How to Export and Import JSON files for both Static and CMS sites

This guide offers step-by-step instructions on how to export and import JSON files for both Static and CMS sites in Dorik.


Exporting the JSON file from a Static site


  • Go to the builder of the static site that you want to export the JSON file from.


  • Click the hamburger menu icon located at the top-right corner of the builder.


  • Click on Export as JSON.


  • The JSON file for the site will be downloaded to your local machine.

Exporting a JSON file is only available for static sites.


Importing a JSON file to a Static site


  • Make sure you have the correct JSON file on your local machine.


  • Go to the builder of the static site on which you want to import the JSON file.


  • Click the hamburger menu icon located at the top-right corner of the builder.


  • Click on Import JSON.


  • Select the JSON file you wish to import from your local device.


  • You’ll then see two options: either keep your existing site pages and add the imported ones as new pages, or remove all current pages and replace them with the imported ones.


  • After choosing your preferred option, click Ok. The pages will be imported.


  • Don’t forget to save your site once the import is complete.

If you choose Keep existing pages, your existing global styles & symbols will remain the same.


If you choose Remove existing pages, your global styles and symbols will be replaced by the imported global styles and symbols.


Importing a JSON file to a CMS site


Note: JSON file export isn’t available for CMS sites. If you need a JSON file for your CMS site, please contact support — we can manually import it for you. However, only static pages will be included, as CMS content and pages cannot be imported.


You can import JSON files that were exported from either Static or CMS sites. This way you can convert you static sites into CMS sites.


  • Make sure you have the correct JSON file on your local machine.


  • Go to the builder of the CMS site on which you want to import the JSON file.


  • Click the hamburger menu icon located at the top-right corner of the builder.


  • Click on Import JSON.


  • Select the JSON file you wish to import from your local device.


  • You’ll then see two options: either keep your existing site pages and add the imported ones as new pages, or remove all current pages and replace them with the imported ones.


  • After choosing your preferred option, click Ok. The pages (Only Static Pages) will be imported.


  • Don’t forget to save your site once the import is complete.
