# Getting Started

This documentation will guide you through the process required to **Draft & Publish** your site i.e. how you can save your website as a draft & publish it.

# Draft Site

A draft site is a website that is not published yet. When you click on the `Save` button in the top navigation, it saves the changes as a draft. You can save both Classic & CMS sites as a draft.

# Published Site

When you publish a website it goes live with an URL (Subdomain or Custom Domain). The published website can be accessed with the URL by anyone. 

**To publish a website for the first time in CMS, follow the steps below —**

- Click on the `Publish` button on the top navigation.
- The Publish modal will appear
- Enter the **Project Name** & set the **Site URL** as a custom domain or subdomain
- Enter the **Domain Name** & press **Publish Site**
- To visit the site, click on the button right next to `Publish`

1. Click on the `Publish` button on the top navigation.

2. The Publish modal will appear as shown below:
3. Enter the **Project Name** & set the **Site URL** as a custom domain or subdomain
4. Enter the **Domain Name** & press `Publish Site`

5. To visit the site, first click on the `Publish` button, and then click on the icon next to the `Domain`

# Saving changes as a draft in the Published Site

When you edit/make changes to a published website in Classic or CMS. If you click `Save` then the changes will be saved as a draft and won't be updated on the live site. To update the live website you have to click `Publish`.

# Saving Pages as a draft with Dorik CMS

If you don’t want to publish any specific page of your website & save it as a draft only, you can do it with Dorik CMS.

**Follow all the steps below to learn how to save pages as a draft in Dorik CMS —**

- Go to **Design & Pages** under Styles and Settings in your CMS dashboard
- When redirected to your website builder, click on 📑 **Pages** from the upper left corner of your website builder
- After clicking **Pages,** a sidebar will appear
- Select the **Page** you want to save as a draft
- Click on the **dropdown arrow** from the right-side panel of the **Page** box
- Uncheck the `Published` option & your page will be saved as a draft

|| 💡Drafting a page is the same as 'unpublishing' a page

1. Go to **Design & Pages** under Styles and Settings in your CMS dashboard
2. When redirected to your website builder, click on 📑 **Pages** from the upper left corner of your website builder

3. After clicking **Pages,** the following sidebar will appear:

4. Select the **Page** you want to save as a draft
5. Click on the dropdown arrow from the right-side panel of the **Page** box
6. Uncheck the **`Published`** option & your page will be saved as a draft

|| 💡 However, the above-mentioned **Published** option is only for the **Dorik CMS** site.
